Anita Anantharam, PhD, MBA

I teach leadership, ecology, political economy, and colonial history. I am a professor by trade and an entrepreneur at heart. Teaching requires innovative thinking, community building, communication skills, and empathy – qualities I bring to every aspect of my work and life. “The academy is not paradise,” said bell hooks, “but learning is place where paradise can be created.”

I have devoted the past 20 years to working in higher education and the highlights of my career include:

  • Teaching and research in leadership, women’s empowerment, and the importance of social capital for personal growth.

  • Fulbright and Title VI grant recipient to advance research on women’s rights.

Today, when I am not in the classroom, I remain committed to helping students (and the businesses that hire them) connect the dots between experience-based knowledge and leadership development. I bring value to organizations and teams by analyzing the ecosystem of the workplace and my vision underscores balancing social good with pragmatic business sense. And, because at my core I believe that “not all those who wander are lost” - changing the way we approach inconsistencies in personal and professional growth is the best way to ensure student success and sustainable change.

I look forward to making the world a better place for future generations of college women. Contact me if you share my vision or if I can be of help to you or your organization.
