Anita Anantharam, PhD, MBA

believes in getting skilled, not just schooled

Dr. Anita Anantharam (Dr. A), a leading authority on soft skills development for students and working professionals, has shifted the paradigm of the education ecosystem. She has developed a revolutionary technology called LeaderLync, that equips the next generation of talent with a tangible way to leverage “everyday experiences and opportunities for skills development and personal elevation.”

As an award-winning Professor at the University of Florida, Dr. Anantharam has devoted the past decade to preparing her students to succeed beyond the classroom through critical thinking, professional development, and effective communication.

Her experience on the frontline of the education industry helped her recognize the significant gaps in leadership development and the inability of many of her students to connect the dots between “leading in life,” and “leading professionally.”

Her soft skills curriculum, and the technology platform that supports it, is the much-needed leadership confidence index for students and working professionals. She has devoted the past 20 years to working in higher education and highlights include:

  • Teaching and research in the areas of leadership, women’s empowerment and diversity and the importance of social capital for personal growth.

  • Worked with USAID-sponsored research teams to monitor and evaluate social capital in the middle-east

  • Recipient of Fulbright and Title VI grants to advance research on human capital and social justice

Today, when she isn’t in the classroom, or running LeaderLync, Dr. Anantharam is dedicated to empowering students and organizations on the link between experience-based education and leadership development.

Academic life

Find out about my work, my research and my teaching interests. There is a lot of innovative work happening in academia—not only in the STEM fields but also in the humanities and social sciences—and I try to introduce my students to many of these ideas through my scholarship and teaching.

business expertise

I thrive on connecting with people and sharing ideas. There is a lot of work left to do in bridging the gap between academic life and business intelligence.
